Our Crazy Last Weekend

Well, it is almost the weekend again, so I thought I'd better hurry and put a few things down about the weekend we had almost a week ago. It was a weekend filled with good times with good friends - old AND new!

On Saturday afternoon, Carol, Carma, and Kristi drove all the way from Iowa to visit us in our new home. We had a nice and relaxing time with them chit-chatting out in our front yard. Carma's lungs and cats don't get along real well, so it would have been a huge risk to her health for her to come inside considering the fact that one of our family members is a feline. But the weather was beautiful, and sitting outside worked just fine. But we could have done without the bugs. They definitely were not staying away. And they were the tiny little black ones that land on you and then give these little stinging bites. But we survived. Here is a pic of us out in the front yard. Kristi is taking the picture, and Ella is way too busy running around to sit still and be in it.

Then on Sunday morning Dave was scheduled to lead the chapel services at both hospitals in town. So we all attended the second service at the same hospital that Ella was (and will be) a patient in. They called it a chapel, but we all agreed that the room seemed to be much more than what that term implied. It was rather ornate, and we were all rather awed as we walked in. Here is a pic, but even it doesn't give a true representation of what the place really was like.

After this it was more fellowship and food as we ate at the local Old Country Buffet. Everything was very yummy. Ella especially liked the orange soft-serve ice cream they had. Well, everyone did actually...

So that in itself was a pretty busy weekend. Then we received a call on Sunday afternoon after the ladies left, inviting us along on a trip to an apple orchard! Our new friends Ben and Naomi were going with their 2 kids and a few others and wondered if we'd like to go too. So we couldn't pass that up, and off we went! There were small animals, hay bales, pumpkins, and lots of apples! Ella and the other kids helped themselves to one of the free samples, and looked so cute chomping them down! Ella used our wagon ride around the orchard as a good opportunity to polish hers off....or maybe it was a new one she grabbed to take with. Who knows! All I know is that we did a LOT of apple-eating that day!

After the wagon ride, we purchased a bag that we could fill up with as many apples as we picked from the orchard. Dave and Ella did a great job picking the best ones (okay, so maybe Ella picked a few of the not-really-the-best ones, but that was okay too), and our bag was filled up in no time!

Needless to say, we all slept really good on Sunday night! What a wonderful weekend it was!

That does sound like a fun filled packed weekend. We are going with M & T, and A & T, next weekend to a farm. Hopefully the night will be great for a bonfire too.

PS Thanks for your very encouraging comments.
